Hi Team,

In my projects, there are some schedule jobs which will generate reports, but sometimes the job get failed, When I check the error it does show actual error message ( displays unavailable), We have run the job again by manual, then it succeed, But My manager is not interested to go to Cognos manually and look for failed jobs, they want any solution to re run the job 1 or 2 attempts if it fail,  Kindly suggest any way to achieve this. Thanks in Advance.

There is no way to do this. I would strongly suggest fixing the problem as to why they failed as opposed to trying to just re-run.

Perhaps a simple solution would be to run the report at a different time.

Thank you Grim for the reply.  The schedule of the same job is monthly same time, and for out of last 5 times it was successful 3 times (feb-fail, ja- success, dec - success, nov- fail, oct - success) The same job is running for last 2 years, we did not encounter any problem till Nov (first time fail), I do not understand what the exact problem is from the log ( as shown in screen shot). The job also runs during mrng hours in which no users are using the reports. Is there any way to know the status of cognos job using any batch scripts.?

Regarding re scheduling in different time, Unless I show some strong evidence, we can not recommend to manager/client for other time in the current project.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Cognos Gurus,

I'm also  facing the same issue but I got some JAVA script for rerun automatically if any reports get fail.

My  question is where can I copy the JAVA script, can any one help me on this issue.

Thanks,
Rams

saikrishna86, as Grim said, you need to find the reason it is failing. Your screenshot is not the server log. You want a file named "cogserver.log" that can be found on your server.

ra - if you mean javascript embedded in the report, that does not run in a scheduled report, only interactively on an HTML view of the report. Even if it is javascript, I am not sure how it would accomplish a rerun-on-fail.

Any findings here why the reports were failing and how you resolved it?

A very similar situation we are facing in our project. Thanks for clarifying.
