help please!
I am trying to attach from Cognos Express to an Access database called RDB.mdb database via ODBC.
The database has no password.
I am on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.
I created the ODBC data source with C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
However, I am getting this error message when I try to create the data source in Cognos Express:

X An error has occurred
org.xml.sax.SAXException: UDA-SQL-0031 Unable to
access the "cxdbinfo" database. check that the
connection parameters to the database are configured
correctly. For example, ensure that the data source
connection contains the signon information, such as a
password, to connect to the database. UDB-SQL-0532
Data Source is not accessible: "RDB".[Microsoft][ODBC
Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no
default driver specified.

The ODBC connection works fine if I use it in Excel, but not if I try to use it in Cognos Express.
thanks for any help

Hi,

Is the ODBC defined on the System DSN tab? It will need to be to be able to access it from within Express.

If you edit the ODBC definition for your database and press the "Advanced" button, can you make sure that the Login name and Password fields are empty?

In Cognos Connection in Express, go to Launch > IBM Cognos Administration and go to the Configuration tab. Create a new data source and choose a Type of "ODBC". In the ODBC Data Source field, enter the name of your ODBC connection and select the "No authentication" radio button. Then test the data source to make sure you can connect successfully.

This should be all you need to do.

Cheers!

MF.

sorry to be slow replying.
The ODBC connection is defined on the "User DSN" tab of my ODBC Data Source Administrator (not the "System DSN").
thanks :)

p.s. I've added the ODBC connection to my "System DSN" tab now.
I can't test Cognos right now because I have another problem (Cognos service won't start).
thanks

finally I've been able to get it to work.
thanks :)
