Hi Team,

One of my users have by mistakenly deleted the Cognos folder and all the custom reports created on Query Studio has been deleted. I wanted to know is there any way to retieve the data from Cognos or from Content Store.

Need to get the information from the Cognos end and not from the Framework end as they do not have access to it.

Kindly suggest the best possible ways to retrieve the data

They are on eBO 8.4.1 and MSSQL as the database

Hi,

The content is held in tables in your content store database. When someone removes a folder/report etc the relevant content is deleted from the content store. It's not like in Windows where content is moved to a recycle bin and can be "un-deleted". To get the content back you will need to have a backup of your content store database from before the content was removed.

Good luck!

Restore the Content Store database from a timestamp before the removal under a new name.
Then use your existing environment to point to this outdatated Content Store and extract what you need. (plan downtime for the complete environment during this)

If you have a tests environment with authenticatation setup identical to prod, you can use that.

Or if nothing is available, setup a temporary fresh setup of BI with identical authentication as prod, against the restored database, and save what you need.

I wanted to know if there is a detailed process flow available for the same that I can refer and get this issue resolved at my end.

Any help regarding this would be highly appreciated.
