Show filters in the report

Let's say I apply 2 filters in the report. When I run the report, how can I see what filter values have been applied? This is available in Query Studio but not in BIA, nor is thare an option to use a Layout calculation to display the parameter value.

Also, can somebody show the main uses of BIA? Why would you use BIA instead of Query Studio? It does allow multiple queries but apart from that, what else?

Thanks

MFGF

Hi,

Tom posted a very useful technique for doing this:

The benefits of BIA over Query Studio are manifold - it has much broader capabilities than Query Studio and allows both reporting and analysis type interaction - giving you almost all of the capabilities of Query Studio and Analysis Studio combined in one authoring tool. It also provides the ability to open and modify reports authored in Report Studio - the report specification is shared between both which means they can be used interchangeably.

Lynn and Pat presented a superb session on this at IOD last November - you can find the materials here:

Thanks MFGF ! That helped a lot !

Since we don't want the users to have the burden of putting the code, I made a template which will have 5 rows (inside table cells) and put the code there to display the parameter values of the filters. They will name the paremeters like 'Parameter1', 'Parameter2' etc and the code will display the values so they don't have to do the coding.

Thought to share it.
