Cognos 8 - bursting

Could you please let me know will it hav any performance issue if I burst about 40-45 reports at one time. Will it slow down the cognos performance ? Pls let me know

It depends on your hardware configuration, congos configuration, report complexity and the time when wish to burst the reports.

Points to consider:

1. If you only have one application server it must share the load of running normal reports and burst reports

2. Make sure you settings for the batch report service are in line with your hardware capacity, and if you must burst during office hours,  that when combined with the settings for the interactive report service your server still has enough capacity

3. If possible burst the reports after office hours or when you know there will be limited use of interactive reporting.

4. The best thing to reduce the total time for bursting is to split the reports into groups of relatively the same size and burst them in parallel. I have found this to work very well. Sometimes when I use to burst a large number of reports the bursting would fall over around half way and I had to keep modifying the report and bursting it over and over again.
