I'm not sure I'm posting in the right board, but here goes.

I'm new to Dynamic Cubes and am configuring my first cube.
I am trying to setup a Dimensional Filter in the modeler, but for some reason I cannot find (not even grayed out) either a Filter Tab or a New Filter Icon.

Based on research I've done, there should be one of these somewhere!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cognos 10.2.1

Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Hi,

You can define security filters if that's what you mean?

Double-click your hierarchy and select the ""Security" tab on the right.

Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback.
However, I really don't mean Security Filters.

What I'd like to do is filter out certain elements from either a Dimension.
For example, remove all Closed Stores from a Site Dimension/Hierarchy.

And, then also, I'd like to filter out from the central fact table certain rows.
For example, Items that didn't sell in a particular store (we have a Sales Flag in our fact table that indicates whether an item was sold for that Store/Date Period  = 'Y' or just inventoried  = 'N').
The data in this fact table in the database is then partitioned on this Sales Flag for performance reasons.
Large number of inventoried items, much fewer active sold items.

I want these filters to apply in the cube design/model and not have to have the report users design around these.

Based on this link:
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/cbiima/v1r0m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_cog_rlp.10.2.1.1.doc%2Fc_cog_rlp_dimensionfilter.html

There should be a "New Filter" Icon (other sources mention a Filter Tab).
I am not seeing either of these options.

Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Hi,

You need to be on 10.2.1.1 for this:

http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/cbiima/v1r0m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_cog_rlp.10.2.1.1.doc%2Fc_cog_rlp_new_10_2_1_1.html

Grab the 32-bit 10.2.1 Fix Pack 1 installer from Fixcentral and run it for your FM/Cube Designer installation in the 32-bit folder.
Also grab the 64-bit installer for your main BI instance (assuming you are on 64-bit).

Cheers!

MF.

Yes, indeed that was the case.

I had already updated the 64-bit configuration for the base Cognos Configuration to 10.2.1.2
However, I missed updating the 32-bit configuration for the modelling tools to the same fix pack.

This is now done, and "magically" my filter tab is now present and accounted for!

Thanks again for your help.
Adam.
