Hello All,

We are using Series 7 security (Sun One Directory) in Cognos 8.1.2. The plan is to change the IP address and hostname of our Sun One Directory server. In Cognos Configuration for the security option, will changing the name of the host without modifying the Namespace Id affect our CAMIDs or will they remain intact? Please let me know. Thank you very much for your time.

It shouldn't.

I've got backups of a S7 LDAP which replicate to a second server and namespace on there for DR.  In drills, when we used to switch over to the DR server (different hostname, different ip) there was no issue with CAMIDs.

However, now I've registered a url against an ip in DNS which I apply as a second ip to the server hosting the S7 namespace.  Then in Cognos Config > Security > Authentication you can specify the url in the Host and port value (screenshot attached).  If you're not already doing this its worth considering, as it means you only have to move the ip to your second s7 namespace server, if you move the namespace\invoke DR.  Meaning no need to edit, save and restart services in Cognos Connection, and little or no downtime for your environment (we experience none when doing this at my company).
