Hi,

You can do this out-of-the-box in Cognos Workspace Advanced

Right-click on Camping Equipment and choose Explore > Expand Member

I'd honestly suggest you push back and tell them the functionality is available if they use the right tool. Doing it manually is ugly and a nightmare to maintain. If you're adamant that's what you want, take a look at these links:
