Have you ever run into the situation where users created query studio reports in their active language but then the language translation file changes and then their reports that they created no longer work ?

What happened here was that we have a Package with Design Language is English Zimbabwe and the active language that our Brazil users use is Portugese.  So when they log into cognos connection they create their Cognos Query Studio reports with their active language which is Portugese.  However now the translation file has changed and a new package is created.  Now their report does not work because the Portugese translation of those objects have changed.  Any way to get their query studio reports working again ?

For anyone that has come across this problem.......in Framework Manager V10.2 there is a new property that you can set to always use Design Language when creating reports therefore if the language translation file for that package ever changes it won't break the report.

The parameter is called "Use Design Local for Reference" set this to true and publish package and you are good to go for all future reports.

For reports that were broken you will have to:

1.  Publish original package with original language translation file
2.  Point Report to this original package
3.  Open report in Query Studio
4.  Run Report
5.  Save Report
6.  Point Report to new package with new translation file
7.  Open report in Query Studio
8.  Run Report
9.  Save it

Report should be fixed now pointing to new package and new translations.
