Silly problem with Cognos 10.2.1 ...

Hello guys,

I installed Cognos 10.2.1 on AIX for one of my clients and managed to integrate it with LDAP. Now when I try to open Cognos I will get the login page and this is my silly issue.

The login page is a gray ugly page with a small box in the middle for the the login username / password.

I installed Cognos 10.2.1 on Windows and I have done many Cognos 10 installation before and the login page was not like that. It was normal page that contains the blue IBM branding image in the background with that box to enter the username and password.

I checked the Cognos installed in my laptop and I found that this background image is called swoosh.png and it is working on my laptop but not in the AIX installation though the image is in the same location as in my laptop.

Do you know what is the problem. I looks really bad.

Thanks ..

Once logged in do you get the entire portal with all images?
What are you using for WebServer? Sounds like the virtual Dirs aren't configured properly.
Check the web server logs.

Thanks a lot Grim for your response.

I am using IBM HTTP Server as a web server. After logging everything seems OK and the portal looks great with all images and everything.

It is just the login screen. Any ideas what might be the problem?

Just trying to make sure.
Cognos 10.2.1 has a different looking, grey-ish splash screen and login screen (That's one of the changes for this version), and not the IBM Blue we've known from 8.2 and up.
It's that way on any 10.2.1 installation I have done including Windows and Linux. That's just the default look and feel.
Are you sure your login screen is different than that of 10.2.1 on Windows, for instance?
Could you post a screen capture?

Thanks Nimrod for your response.

Yes I am sure about this. As I told you, I have done the installation in windows many times. I have seen the login screen before and that's why I noticed the problem. I also have the 10.2.1 in my laptop so I searched for the image and found it as mentioned.

On the AIX installation, there is a blank gary screen with a box in the middle for the login. it should not look like this.

Hi,

The blue login dialog is no more. If you are seeing this when connecting to a Windows server it is either still on 10.1.1 or else your browser has cached the 10.1.1 login page.

The current login page on any platform looks like this:

This is on my Windows machine.

Cheers!

Hi MF,

This exactly what i am getting right now.

Really, Can't believe that IBM replaced the old login screen with this :S ..

Any idea if this is a bug?

Thanks ..

It's not a bug, it is just the new default logon page. We have the same one, as MFGF shows in the screenshot.

If it bothers you enough, you can
* delve into customizing the page and make it look however you like including the older look.
* use single sign-on and never see it, which is what we do on production boxes here.

Otherwise you'll just have to live with it.

Two things are puzzling me:

1. Why have you used the "Report to moderator" link to report this as an inappropriate thread? The link is there to allow you to alert the moderators to any unsuitable content, not to ask questions about how to do installs.
2. Why have you added this question onto the end of a thread completely unrelated to the topic you are asking about? Why haven't you started a new thread for this question?

Here is a link to the 10.2.1 Installation and configuration guide. This gives you step-by-step instructions. Take a look at Chapter 5.
