I'm getting the following message after setting up cognos 10.2.1 and trying to save a report.

The report specification contains an error at line ' 1', column ' 91'.

Unknown element 'report'
RSV-SRV-0042 Trace back:
RSReportService.cpp(759): RSException: CCL_CAUGHT: RSReportService::processImpl()
RSReportServiceMethod.cpp(258): RSException: CCL_RETHROW: RSReportServiceMethod::process(): reportUpdate_Request
RSReportGenerator.cpp(313): RSException: CCL_THROW: RSReportGenerator::syncProperties

Could anyone assist me with this? I've read something to do with CGI and ISAPI but not having much luck solving it.

Cheers.

Did you install Cognos 10.2.1 into an existing Cognos 10 instance folder or was it a new, clean install? Did you set up IIS from scratch for the new install or just reuse the old IIS config?

If it was me, I'd check that default.htm and index.htm are both using the correct redirect URLs and I would remove the IIS config and start again setting up Cognos10 and cgi-bin with the relevant application pools and handler mappings.

Cheers!

Hmmmm I attempted to make it work with IIS, then decided to setup Apache just to see what happens   :P

When I'm accessing the remote desktop (where cognos is installed) I can run a report and save it without any issues, but when I access the Cognos portal from a browser outside the remote server that is when I am getting the error.

Does this help at all with working out what it could be?

This issue was when using IE9..... I've updated the broswer to IE10 and the issue is resolved.
