Hi all,

I have to create a new Notification database to replace the existing one. I want to know if there is a script available for it or what is is the proper way of creating and then configuring it. The reason why im doing this is because, we've been having trouble with reports going into pending status and not executing at all. This happens randomly with random reports. It was suggested that i recreate the notification database to see if the existing one is corrupt or not.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Danii

Is this issue intermittent or consitant ?

If its intermittent then your notification DB is not currupted.
Thanks

Thanks Sunosoft for your reply!

Its been happening  very frequently for the past month or so. but we've been having to restart cognos services for what i was told is over two years. yes two years. I just came along recently, and its gotten to the point where it happens during peak period. When reports go into pending status nothing else fixes it unless we restart the services. we've tried to cancel reports and run them again but they kept going back into pending status.  Ive even dropped the NC_tables, that didn't help either.

Please check if those reports are generating outputs or not. If yes then, there is something wrong with the ID which connecting to the SMTP server.

Also try scheduling one simple report by setting routing rule, so that you will come to know if the issue is specific to any particular dispatcher server.

Did you try to test the notification namespace on the dispatcher server. Probably you would have done this, if not please test the same if its getting successfully tested or not.
Thanks

The reports dont generate any output once they are in pending status, they usually stay in the that status until they're either canceled or the system is restarted.

im not too familiar with the routing rule, (im new to the admin side) can you please explain this and also what you mean by  'test the notification namespace on dispatcher server'

Thanks again!
