Time-out error due to huge amount of data

Hello Cognos Gurus,

I have a report that pull huge amount of data, I always got a time-out error every time I run the report.

Is there any way to handle such issue in Report Studio?  Thanks in advance...

What are you trying to achieve? Is there a better way to do it? It sounds like you are trying to use Report Studio as an ETL tool? If not, can you advise what the report is doing?

Hi MFGF,

The report simply pulls full year data from three different query sources (namespace), that's it.

I'm with MF on this. What is the business need to pull this much information out? Is anyone going to look at the full data set returned? Is there a better tool to do what you are looking to do? Prehaps pull the data set into Transformer and build a cube to then run reports on the cube?

Or

Ask the DBA to pull the data set into a CSV directly from the DB rather than using Cognos as an ETL tool.


Aside form that above...
You can set the timeout for larger reports to a longer time.
