how to show missing values in report?

I've searched on this forum for a way to display those values (imputed by the user) that may be missing in the database...
have a feeling I may not be asking the right question(s).   I've even googled this question, came close a couple of times,
but no dice...  Using Cognos 10.1 - Report Studio (do not have permissions for Framework Manager).  I am still relatively
new to creating reports...  learning a lot over the last while.

So here is my problem:
The user will enter a list of part numbers into the prompt page & run the report...
the report will only show those part numbers that actually exist in the database/system.

The user needs to know the attributes of those part numbers that are in the system... and also needs
to know if there are part numbers missing from the system.

I know how to show the existing part number attributes... it is the missing part numbers (they don't exist), that I am stumped by...
Does anyone know how to show missing parameter values imputed by the user??   Even if the report simply shows the part number
with blank attributes...  would be a good indicator.

Thank you for any assistance, you have to offer.  :)

Is your report showing you results in a list? maybe you are suppressing 0 values.
