Hi,

MDA is really a beginner's shortcut for building a star schema from scratch in an entirely new model - it's not for adding the final steps to an existing model. If you already modeled your data source view, your next step in getting appropriate reporting structures is to add a new namespace to your model and within this, create new model query subjects that look like star schema tables.

If you do want to use MDA, launch Framework Manager from the Start menu and click on the link in the Welcome page that says "Create a new project using Model Design Accelerator..."

Cheers!

Hi bro
I m a beginner, i want " model design accelerator" to create star schema model.

One more question is that , how can we know that our model has star schema model after relationship made. Is there any symbol for identifying the star schema model.

If i dont create star schema model, then what will happen, can we generate reports in report studio without star schema.

Thanks and regards

Hi,

The holy grail of modelling is to end up with structures that emulate star schemas. In the underlying database(s) the data may be physically stored in entirely different structures. You simply need to make sure you model structures that emulate star schemas. The query engine generates queries based on the assumption that the data is structured in star schemas. If you don't model the data this way, you run the risk of ending up with inappropriate queries returning inaccurate, unpredictable results.
