Creating Static Row Headings in List Report or Crosstab

I am faily new in Cognos 10.1 and I am trying to create a list report with the following:  (This is just an example)

Column 1      Column2                            Column3
Age                  Total Children              % of Age Group
0-2                     3                                      6%
3-6                     7                                      9%
7-10                   6                                      2%

I want to type Column 1 and insert the data objects in columns 2 and 3.  I've tried crosstabs and cannot get it to allow the text with the data correctly.  What am I doing wrong ::)
