Hi,
We are moving our users from Series 7 Security to AD.
What are the best options to move their current schedules which is under Series 7 Profile to their AD Profile?
Our users have around 100 or more scheduled Query Studio Reports and Report Studio Reports.
Do let me know if anyone has done it before?
We don't have SDK and other tools.
Thanks,
Ann

I went through this last year.
I do not know if this is the best or most efficient way but it is the way I handled it.
It was a pain and very time consuming...

When we went from Access Manager to Active Directory I kept all Namespaces active for a brief period.
Meaning I had my 5 Active Directory Domains mapped and a 6th Napespace which was my Series 7.

This allowed me to keep the schedules intact while I logged on as an Administrator under one of the AD Domains.
I then went to the master Schedule page in the Admin section and took ownership of each of these Scheduled reports manually.
I did this by selecting to modify the schedule - then selected the "Use My Credentials"
This effectively gave me ownership of the report schedules.

THen once the users were migrated I asked that they retake ownership essentially doing the same thing for their reports.

One benefit of this manual effort we went from over 3000 Scheduled reports to 1549 as users decided to clean up things. I set a time limit and stated any reports that were not claimed at the 3 month mark would be flagged and any not migrated by the 6th month mark would have their schedules deleted completely.

They always have the option creating new schedules if necessary.

There are some issues though...
Reports found in users "My Folders" cannot be migrated this way

One additional gotcha we found in our migration.

Users AD ID's have expiring passwords so we had to dedicate alot of time to sending out reminders, when a user schedules a report and then they are required to change their Active Directory password they need to go into their Preferences and update their credentials or their reports will simply not run.

Schedules based off of Triggers will receive an Authentication error, but time based scheduled reports will simply not run, not show up in the "failed List" it will appear as if the schedule just doesn't exist - unless they go update their credentials - once they do this their schedules start running again normally

I know this isn't a great solution but it allowed us to migrate successfully and I hope this helps or at least gives you a few ideas when migrating your own environment.

Cognos SDK support team has a tool for just such a migration. Downside is they charge for helping you through this transition. May want to ping them just to see how they can help and the cost.
