I'm very new to cognos.
I do not have a page prompt screen and I have parameters. When I run the report, I get a prompted for my parameters. The problem is I cannot edit the report headings.
So I tried creating a page prompt. But when I run the report I get the prompt screen that I used to get before I created the page prompt. Then after I enter the parameters, I get my page prompt screen. How do I set this up so it will only display the page prompt screen? Thank you in advance.

Hi,

This is a mistake I made when I was new to Cognos too! The issue you have is that when you add a prompt page and drag in a prompt from the toolbox, the prompt wizard will by default create a new filter to drive the prompt - even though you have already defined a filter. There is an option when defining your prompt to reuse an existing parameter - this is the way to go in this situation for future reference. If I was a betting man, I'd wager that if you look at the query of your report (in the Queries dialog) you will see each filter is defined in there twice.

Your challenge now is to figure out which filters are referenced by your prompts from the prompt page, and which filters are the ones you originally added. Look at the names of the parameters and items in the filter expression and check them against the properties of each prompt to see how they tie together. Delete the filters that are not referenced by your prompts.

Cheers!

Thank you!! I deleted the parameters that are not used. It's now working.
