I recently installed Fix pack 2 on Cognos BI and images are no longer showing in the PDF format but they do in HTML and excel. Any help would be appreciated.

I did some research and i found that i needed to enable WebDev in my IIS configuration. I did find out that i dont have Webdev installed but i dont want to install it and break something else. if you know what webDev does and is used for and how it could impact other things please let me know, i would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much!

WebDav is needed to browse for images. It sounds like a permissions issue for the PDF renderer.

Where are the images located? Does the Cognos user have access to that location? What happens if you try running a PDF report that uses an image from the webcontents/samples folder?

WebDav is a mechanism (in Cognos) for browsing images.
It also enables you as a user to create a Network Drive mapping using an HTTP://server/WebDav-folder in Windows Explorer, so you can easily download and upload for example images.
That's why you have to be carefull when adding rules with Write permissions because users can also delete images with the proper rights.

The problem that you have isn't caused by having WebDav enabled or not.... My first question is: Where are your images stored and how are they embedded in your report?
Are they in a folder on the server? How are the image urls set? Are they using http://<server>/images/demo.jpg or c:\images\demo.jpg (for all those that start reacting: I know this, but still I have customers that use this syntax :( )

The images are stored on the server in the webcontent\images.
It was working fine before i did the update to FP2 and i didnt need the WebDev for the images to work. And i dont have a directory called webcontent\samples.

URL for the images is (../images/logos/Logo.png) without the parenthesis.

do you think i renames or create a directory called  \samples under webcontent would fix this issue. I also informed by the rep to install the interim fix to resolve this issue as this is a known issue with fix pack 2.

Thank you very much for the reply.

UPDATE: This issue has been resolved.

This is a known FP2 error, IBM has released interim fix to resolve this issue. however, you will have to get in touch with IBM to have them send you a specific link to download the interim, as they are not available to download like FIX PACK are.

You don't have to change anything, just apply this interim on all servers and dispatchers.  After the install rerun the reports. Voila! your images are back on your reports.
