Hi All!

Just to make the things clear in my head.

I want to go from 10.1.1 -> 10.2.1.1

It is a complete reinstall and content database upgrade correct?

My designed steps are:

1. VM snapshop + CONTENT DB BACKUP
2. Uninstall
3. Windows updates
4. Install 10.2.1.1
5. Configure it
5. Start services upgrade content db

Anythign wrong with these?

Yes - it's an uninstall/reinstall scenario.

As well as taking a content backup I would also make sure the Configuration folder is backed up, plus any image files etc you might have copied in to the install folder structure. They shouldn't get removed by the process but it's safer to have a copy just in case.

When you install 10.2.1.1 you will need to do the 10.2.1 install, then apply Fix Pack 1 over the top to get to 10.2.1.1, then apply Interim Fix 3 over the top of this. Don't forget to take your 32-bit FM install to the same level too.

Once the process is complete you will need to clear your browser cache. There are a LOT of UI changes between 10.1.1 and 10.2.1 and you don't want old content hanging around.

Good luck!!

MF.

Not sure if you can help...
So Cognos 10.2.1 Fix Pack 1 will upgrade you to Cognos 10.2.1.1?

What is Cognos 10.2.1 Fix Pack 2 then? It was release just over a week ago?

I'm a little confised by all the versions.. Can anyone explain?

I just found out in the middle of the process..I will go directly to FP2, bypassing FP1/IF3...

Wow! There's one I missed! There's now a Fix Pack 2 for 10.2.1 - cool!

Yes - 10.2.1 with Fix Pack 1 applied is referred to as 10.2.1.1. I assume that IBM will refer to 10.2.1 with Fix Pack 2 installed as 10.2.1.2

I assume the Fix Pack 2 install is a more robust replacement for "10.2.1.1 Interim Fix 3" which came out in December. I'm willing to bet that everything in FP1 and IF3 is included in FP2, and hopefully a few more things besides. :)

Cheers!

These have to do with active reports? Cause i dont use them yet..

MFGF

Yes and no. You can use them in both active and normal reports from the 10.2.1.1 release. You will need to download and install the viz bundles from analyticszone.com before you are able to use them :)

Little note:
According to Cognos support IF3 is NOT implemented in FP2 and should be installed before FP2.

"litlle" :)

And why is that do you know?

That means that i would uninstall everything, or install IF3 and then FP2 on top? I am already at FP2...

Hi All,
Just to share my own experiences.   ;)

We did the same migration process but had lot of problems with it.  >:(

For example, Framework Models validations failed, some complexes reports didn't run at all and most important thing for us jobs for reports with optional prompts failed.
Then we install the FP2 and the all problems just disappeared.  ::)

Hoping this could help.

EarthDog

I second that to the fact that my bibustkmain processes hung for some reports in my dev server with FP1

After FP2 it was solved..this was my major issue

I would suggest to uninstall FP2, Install IF3 and FP2 again.
You could try installing IF3 and Fp2 again, but that's up to you.
