Is Theme Designer installed automatically or do I have to install it separately?

The fix pack is a single install, and updates the current 10.2.1 installed instance. There's nothing extra to install.

has anyone been able to download this fix pack and get it installed? I've forever run into corruption issues extracting it after successful downloads

Yep - I had no issues. It's been installed and running for a few weeks now...

We had two small issue (PMR 70035,442,000 ); scheduled reports that have select prompts failing but run fine when manually ran by user. Solution was another special hot fix from IBM Support. Second the hot fix replaced our report templates but we had a backup.

We are currently on 10.1 and we recently installed 10.2.1 FP1 on the test environment. Can you tell me whether we have to install any additional samples for 10.2.1 version?

All my 10.1.1 samples are working. But the RAVE features are featured in my 10.1.1 samples. I think you will have to download fresh copy from: http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/data/cognos/documentation/docs/en/10.2.1/ig_smples.pdf
