Framework Manager - Slow performance

Hi everybody,

I'm working on a project in Framework Manager.  I want to point an object (table) in my Physical layer to a different table.

I try to do this by going into the objects property window, and changing the 'FROM' in its SQL to the table I want.  When FM tries to validate this change (by clicking 'OK' or 'Validate' button) it takes a long-long-long-long time.  It's succeeded once or twice, after about 20 minutes.  The other times the program becomes unresponsive and I have to abort the program.

I've tried creating a new project and importing 2 or 3 tables from a data source before (through the wizard when starting a new project) and the wait time is again very-very-very long.  It has never succeeded, and goes into non-responsive mode.

Any suggestions as to why Framework Manager seems to take a long time to cmmunicate with the source?

I have had similar experience and then the DBA told me that the DB was down ! Another time it happened because the ETL process was populating that table.
