Is there anything caleed Report Alert Window in Cognos.

The requiremnt is something like: Pop up alerts should be displayed when specific report is refreshed or accessed by the user via report alerts window

Any Idea

You could argue a "report alert window" is simply a folder in Cognos Connection containing newsitems. Nothing would "pop up", though - this is not how the Cognos standard user interface works. If you go into the properties of a report in Cognos Connection and in advanced properties enable the "enhanced user features" option, a user can then ask for alerts to be generated whenever the output is regenerated or if a specific condition is met when the output is generated. These alerts can be via email or could be added as newsitems in a folder. This folder could in turn be displayed in a portlet in a Cognos Connection page or within Business Insight/Cognos Workspace.

Cheers!

I am still confused on this alert deal. I would like to trigger an email based on a metric that I either build in Event studio or that is on an existing report, but I can find no where to do this. Do I need to install an alert studio or something? Using 11.0.7

Hi,

In Cognos Analytics you'd use Event Studio to generate an email based on your metric. You can access Event Studio by clicking New > Other > Event Studio from the portal. If you don't see the "Other" option, it might mean your instance doesn't have the "legacy switch" set, so you're not seeing any of the legacy components such as Event Studio?
