Validating BI Server Build is Production Release

Hi,

Hopefully this is the most appropriate section to post this question in.

I am doing some work for a company that has their software provided to them via a third party. Unfortunately this means they do not have direct dealings with IBM - no customer number, no support etc. Any support requests have to go via the third party which takes weeks  >:(.

They currently have BI Server v10.2.1003.151 installed. They installed this version back in September last year, around the same time that 10.2 was released. I recall around this time that the versions made available were not intended for production use. All I want to know is if this particular build is a production release??

I'm in the process of trying to get the current release (159 I think), but this could take weeks.

I'd be grateful if anyone could confirm.

If it's working, why bother upgrading?
Unless the new release has some fixes on the issues that you are currently dealing with, I'd leave it alone.
It's not necessary to keep up with IBM's every single release.

In our environment, any upgrade takes a lot of testing, comparing, performance testing etc... so we only go to major version releases, not the ones in between.

I am running the RTM (Release to Market) build of Cognos 10.2 (ie it is the release version with no fix packs applied). My version is 10.2.1003.151, so your client is on a full release version, albeit without any fix packs applied.

Fix packs are publicly available for download without needing an IBM Customer Number - just go to http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/ and plug in your required software product and version.
