Hi,

I am using report dependency option in framework manager to find out the reports and cubes which are using a specific table or a field.

But this option doesnt give me 100% results. For eg the Service id field is used in 20 different reports . But this option shows that 9 reports are using service id field.

I was also doing the same search on the query subject and it doesnt give me correct results.

Is there any other way to find out the report dependency for data items or query subjects in cognos 10.1?

Thanks.

Lynn

Do you have different reports in your production vs. development environments? Could it be that the reports different between environments and the "incorrect" search information is because you aren't searching the environment you think you are searching?

Also, I wonder if the search would return a report in the search for an item that is in a query but perhaps not referenced in a layout on the report. Not really sure on this, but might be worth checking.

Lastly, are you sure that the scope of your search or the option to limit results isn't causing the problem?

There are 3rd party tools (like BSP MetaManager) that I believe can offer a more robust solution for you if you are able to license them.

Hi

Have you tried looking at the report spec in the content store tables?  If you have access to the content store you can interrogate thetables. One of them (I think objs7) has holds the report spec in a column called spec.  You can write a query against this column to look for a specific string i.e. data item name.

The report spec is huge so queries are a bit slow but it's the best way I know to find which reports are using a specific item.  I use this quite a lot.  The downside is I don't think it allows you to search users 'my folders' but you should be able to find everything in the public folders.
