I can't find any good documentation on what happens when you "Stop dispatchers after running and queue processed".  Does it wait for both interactive and background processes to finish?  Does it lock out users from starting new processes, or is it "invisible" to users up until the moment it actually stops the dispatchers?  And can you cancel it if it is taking too long?  For example, if it is taking 30 minutes to actually stop, and I need to run to a meeting, I might want to cancel it and try again later.  This question is for Cognos 10.1.

Hi,

It stops the dispatcher from receiving any new requests, then waits untill all the outstanding requests (batch and interactive) have been completed before stopping the dispatcher. I don't think you can cancel the stop request once it has been issued. Your best bet would be to stop immediately then restart, but of couse anyone with queued requests would receive an error.

Cheers!
