Cognos Backup Recovery

So we had our cloud instance taken down that ran our Cognos server. I had a backup from 2/19 which really doesn't give us what we want. I am able to recover the content store folder.

So I've created a new instance setup cognos in a fresh environment. I restore the 2/19 backup and tested and everything was fine. What I need to do now is try to get our reports from the old content store folder. Is there a way to do this?

I tried copying the crn folder over the new one and restart cognos. This would allow me to login but it gives me access denied and I'm not able to get to the administration portion of cognos.

I'm kinda stuck here, anyone experience anything like this or have any tips?

I think you corrupted you CM access premissons restore it to default by following these steps; http://www.cognoise.com/index.php?topic=9759.0

After which you should be able to add the system admins and redo the security from start as a new install. I would also recommend having a backup of CM since its easy to screw it up even more.

Thanks,
RK

Diaonic,

Are you saying you were using Cognos Content Database as your content store?
When you use the same files it gives you error. This may be a file system issue too.

I would suggest first try what RKMI has suggested, this will add everyone as System Administrator.
If this doesn't work please check the file system permissions.

It would be helpful if youshare the snapshots ofte issue.

Rahul
