I am using Cognos 10.2 version. The problem i am facing is that the sum of amount in drill -through report is not matching with that in the parent report. The parent report is a crosstab and the drill-through report is a list.
I click on the link in the rows in the parent report to view the detailed drill - through report. The sum coming in the drill-through report is a higher value than the value in the parent report. Some additional values are creeping in to the drill-through report. How can i avoid this? Can someone help me to solve this issue?

You can check the query cognos is submitting to back end DB. You can see the query in the DB monitoring tool for the respective DB.
For egs; For Netezza it would be Netezza administrator or for Oracle it would be from Toad.

Thanks for the reply. I am using SQL Server 2008 for the DB side. But havent installed any DB monitoring tools for the same. Is there any other workaround?

Hi Deepthi,

This means you there are certain filters in your parent report which are not applied in detailed report.
Please check the filters in both the queries, also see if you are passing the same parameters from parent to child report.

Hi,

I agree with Rahul suggestion. If that doesn't help then you might want to open them side by side and manually apply the filters in the query of the child report. In your case parent report might be ignoring dupilcates and you child is adding. By adding the filters manually will isolate your record set and take values in excel and see the sum of amounts. It might be that your amounts are not properly grouped at a total level; for example Amount data is total amount but the correct total might be total ( amount for country). I would also advise to have a DB tool run queries to double check what you are seeing in report studio. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks,
RK

Hi,
The issue is solved. You were right, i checked the filters and noticed i had an extra filter in the main report for suppressing zeros in a column,so few rows of data were lost in the main report.
I have removed the filter as it is not necessary.

Thanks for your help.
