This http://www.ironsidegroup.com/2010/12/14/ibm-cognos-10-%E2%80%93-active-reports-is-it-a-solution-for-your-organization/ link says that active reports developed by IBM Cognos 10 can not be rendered on mobile [Refer last line under "Are there any Red Flags with IBM Cognos 10 Active Reports"]. Is it true?

My second question is- can I view active report through normal browser in IOS/Android smartphone without installing IBM Cognos Mobile?

hi kiran,

1) as far as i know the renderin is not a problem of the ibm cognos mobile technology, but of the browser used.
MHTML is an open standard for web applications and is supported by IE, FF (with plugin unhtml), Opera and so on.
Safari Browser do NOT support mhtml, thats why there is an (free 2 download)^app for iphones/ ipads in itunes.

I might be wrong, but i believe the report specifcation is similar to the "normal" report specification of standard report studio reports in xml, therefore the browser as frontend will interprete the information and build the report accordingly.

2) You should not have any problems getin an active report on android devices, but you might need an app for that. I remember building active reports for a google nexus 7 and 10 optimized, worked pretty nicely.

Have good day sir,

I really appreciate all those quick replies.

I just developed a simple active report and viewed it successfully from IBM Cognos Mobile. My client further wishes if he could download the report in pdf/excel format. I dont think that is possible unless we write some javascript. What do you guys say on this?
