Hi,

First time post!  I'm happy to be part of your community.

Several months ago, I took a seminar IBM Cognos BI Administration (V10.1) - ILO  that covered how to do an Cognos 10 installation and other topics.

The following link also covers how to do a Cognos 10 installation.

http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/cbi/v10r2m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.inst_cr_winux.10.2.0.doc%2Fc_c8biinstintro.html&path%3D0_13_0

See especially:  Business Intelligence Getting Started Installation Guide 10.2.0

But there seems to be quite a gap in the procedures.  Topics were addressed in a different sequence and using different configuration values.  Some of it might reflect the platform we were working with, but there doesn't seem to be much of an overlap between the current guide and the instructions I got last summer.

I'm wondering if Business Intelligence Getting Started Installation Guide 10.2.0  is a reliable and a reasonably complete  guide for installing Cognos 10?  Are there any other IBM or other guides that should supplement it, not so much in terms of general information as in specific step-by-step instructions on how to perform a Cognos 10 installation?

Thank you for your suggestions.

Philip

Hi,

The link you provided is to the Cognos 10.2 Statistics installation and configuration guide. You really need to refer to the Cognos 10.2 BI installation and configuration guide:

Are you installing on a mix of machines or just one OS type? Windows or unix?

The important thing is to install, configure and start the Content Manager machine first - you must do this to generate the cryptographic keys, and have them available to be copied across to the other machines in the architecture.

Next I would install, configure and start the application server machine(s) then finally install and configure the gateway machine and set up the web server.

Good luck!!

Hi,

another big point is to control the services, e.g. presentation services on the application server / content manager and maybe that it will be necessary to create routing rules.

Kind regards

Markus
