Hi friends,
Any idea how to set up a password for PDF and Excel file which we generate from cognos studios.

For example , we have a requirement in HR data.

Employee history report will provide all about his employment status in the firm. But we want to restrict the unauthorized access to these files. How can we set up a password protection in cognos.
If they want to see the  contect in the file , they have to enter PIN or Employee ID.
We would like to set up this kind of security for generated files.

Help and guidelines will be more appreciate.
if you anybody has document , please share with me.

Hi,

Once a report has been saved, you can go into the properties of the report in Cognos Connection. In Advanced Properties you can select PDF as the rendering type, then click the "Set" link for PDF Options. This will allow you to specify a password.

Cheers!

Hi MFGF,
Thanks for the prompt reply.I have gone through this option. We are planning to implement a C++ encryption in the configuration level.
I know it's a big task to integrate into cognos.
Thank you,
