Access to Report Studio

Hi,

I have a User Group Called Admin they have full capabilities for Report Studio.

I Have a User Group called Creator who also have full capabilities in Report Studio.

When i log on as Admin I can open RS and author reports.

When i log in as Creator i can't.

Are there other capabilities that must be enabled in order to allow use of report studio?

Make sure you have granted permissions to both the "Report Studio" capability, as well as the sub-capabilities. I am thinking in particular of "Create/Delete". By default I believe it should inherit the parent object permissions, but perhaps they are not that way in your configuration.

Are those really groups or are they individual logins? If they are groups, why could you not just use the built-in "Authors" group?

You may find this useful, if you did not already know about it... After logging in, click the 'little person' drop down at the upper right and choose "My Preferences", then select the "Personal" tab. Scroll down and you can see the groups, roles, and capabilities Cognos has determined are granted to the logged in user.

I have no idea why the Cognos Default groups haven't been used ...

They do have access to all the sub capabilities but thanks for that last bit of advice!

Don't forget that in addition to granting the custom groups the capabilties they need, the groups also need to have permissions on Public Folders and below so that packages can be accessed.

Have you given access in User Interface profiles for Professional and express authoring modes?
Are you able to see and run reports?
Are you able to see the report studio icon in front of reports?
What are the errors are you getting?

Hi,

The groups already have access to the Professional and express authoring modes, I can run reports but cannot see the Report Studio icon when i am logged in as 'Creator'.  When I Log in as the system admin I can see it ...

They have the appropriate access to public folders etc and if I do put the user in the standard Authors group then they can access Report Studio.  Yet the Creator user has the same capabilities on Report Studio (even more actually) capabilities.

Can you share the snapshot of capabilities of the particular location where you want report studio icon to appear.
