I have set up active directory on a server (windows server 2008 r2), and added two users and created a domain.
I have no idea how to configure cognos, which is on another machine, to check against these two users i have created. I keep trial and error and test it keep give me this error.

[''ibmlab'']
[ ERROR ] CAM-AAA-0146 The namespace 'nypedusg' is not available.
[ ERROR ] CAM-AAA-0064 The function 'Configure' failed.
[ ERROR ] CAM-AAA-0089 The provider is not initialized.
[ ERROR ] ADSI Error HRESULT Returns:
ERROR_DS_SERVER_DOWN
ADSI Error:

System Error:
The server is not operational.

[ ERROR ] CAM-AAA-0124 The Active Directory function call to 'getDomainTreesTopology' failed.

HELP PLEASE:(

I think there is an issue with active directory setup.
Have you tried to test that, are you able to login to a different machine using the domain?

thanks for the reply, i solved it. I re set up using ldap to communicate with the ad on my another machine. Since u are here, do you know of any way cognos will be able to authenticate against user against a database? Preferably,  oracle. For eg. i have a oracle database with a user table with attributes such as userid, firstName, lastName, password and role. I want to authenticate my cognos user against this table. Hope u can have some input.

Thanks,

Hi,

Unfortunately I never had a chance to use custom authentication provider, but there is an option available for the same.

Rahul
