Is it possible to authenticate Cognos user with Oracle database? If yes how?

Hi cognoiser,

I am asked to prove a concept and propose it to my superior.
My question:
Is it possible to authenticate user against a database preferably Oracle.
I have successfully tested authenticate user using AD.
If it possible to authenticate against a database schema such as CognosUser with attributes like userId, firstName, lastName, password and role. If the answer is YES, can kindly guide me on where to start?
If no... any other alternative?
My purpose of doing this is because, it will be very tedious for me to add up to 300 user in AD and manage them. If use database schema, i am not fixed to an OS platform.

You can run scripts (Dsquery) to import users from oracle to Active directory.
