Hello

I first installed Planning Admin 10.1.1 FP1 on a machine.  I then installed 8.4.0 FP1.  They are in different directories in program files.

The Admin components, CAC, Analyst, Manager work OK.

The problem is with the rich client for 8.4.  Is there any configuration that I can do to get it working.  Note, Client for 10.1.1 works.

Regards

Hi!

What a coincidence, just a couple of weeks ago I tried to install these on the same machine without success... ie. I'm sorry I have no answer to your question but instead I'd be interested to know how you proceeded.

Did you initially have anything on the machine, ie. no previous install of either of the versions when you started?
Did you edit default ports settings in Cognos configuration? I've understood it's not needed if you're running one version at a time.

I think my problem was/is that 8.4. was still there when I tried to install 10.1.1. I did install on separate directories, IIS setups and everything which you can think of doing based on the manuals. If there's config files to copy to non-standard locations or files to modify I didn't do any of this sort of stuff. Still there was issues with finding the correct filesys.ini.

In the end I uninstalled everything, deleted the content store & planning store and at least tried to find and delete manually all the files not unistalled by the wizard and then reinstalled 10.1.1. to this supposedly Cognos-clean machine. However, when starting services in Cognos configuration there's an error which points to the old Planning Store, but despite this the services are started and Planning clients work...

This is all on my own laptop, no clients involved   ;)

With the install I have done its is about the admin components.  Other separate machines run the content stotre/plannig server.

Just installing to different directories allows the CAC and analyst to open.  However, not all functions work correctly.

The reason for the post is to see if I can get the Planning Client components working properly.

Ive got BI working on the same machine using different ports, but then thats the server.  There is no client in BI.

Hey Stuart,

The admin components for the major versions are not supported installed on the same machine.  With that said, there may be unsupported 'hacks' that could be done to get them to work.  In your particular case, the problem likely stems from the way the client tries to work (and is installed by default) because of the way it was installed.

Try uninstalling both framewoks and contributor clients (if they exist) and then do the MSI installers. First the framework and the contributor for 10.1.1 and then just the contributor client for 8.4.1.

Hope this helps
