Username is shown as " Not Available"

Running audit reports to show login rates and patterns by username - lists OK but a significant number of reports have been run by user 'Not Available'

There's divided opinion locally - one suggestion is that ist's caused by users changing their password and not updating their credentials

Can anybody shed some light?
