Hi Team,

One of my user is facing an issue while connecting data source of SQL(OLE DB) type through Framework manager.
when he try to select the data source from framework manager he gets the following error.

QE-DEF-0285 The logon failed.
QE-DEF-0323 The DSN(ODBC)/ServiceName is invalid.  Either the DSN is missing or the host is inaccessible.
RQP-DEF-0068 Unable to connect to at least one database during a multi-database attach to 1 database(s) in:
Testing2
UDA-SQL-0031 Unable to access the "Testing2" database.
UDA-SQL-0532 Data Source is not accessible:"<datasourcename>"]
UDA-SQL-0564

The Data source test connection succeeded for an Cognos administrator when he does testing from Cognos configuration Page.
The user is able to connect the data source from SQL Management studio but not from FM.

Kindly suggest how to proceed as it is very urgent .
I will be very grateful for your replies.
Thanks.

Hi ,

Please check the Permissions given to the user in Cognos Administration as the user might not have all the  necessary rights to connect the same through Framework Manager.

Let me know if it helps.

Thanks and regards
Prerna

Hi Prerna,

Thanks for ur concerned reply.
The user's AD group has been added in Cognos administration and he has given read, execute and traverse permission.
In our team all are able to connect data source from FM except 3 users.
We don't no were it went wrong for those 3 users but they are able to connect all the other data source type like TM1, Teradata except SQL
Anyway thank you so much for your kind reply.

Hi Marry,

Seems to be very weired issue.
Can you please share your environment details like is it a single installation or multiple installation, load balancing, any special routing rules, OS of server etc.

If it is ODBC, test it from Windows>Control Panel>Admin Tools>Data Sources(ODBC) or even Excel first.

You can also do an ODBC trace.

Hi Friends,

I tried adding the port number in the connection parameter for the data source in IBM Cognos Administration page and its working fine now.
I gave the connection parameter in this format: server name/instance/port no.
Could you guys tell me how its working fine now. what remedy does the Port number brought here.
