Hi All,

I am trying to import the packages which is saved under ..Cognos Express\Deployment folder.

I am following the steps below to import the package:

1.In the target environment, open IBM Cognos Connection.

2.In the upper-right corner, click Launch, IBM Cognos Administration.

3.On the Configuration tab, click Content Administration.

4.On the toolbar, click the new import button . The New Import wizard appears.

5.In the Deployment archive box, click the deployment archive that you want to import.

But in the Deployment archive box I cannot see those folders.

Does anyone know the reason why??

Your help would be much appreciated!!!

Kind Regards,
JG

I've had a similar issue with deployment before...particularly on a distributed (multi-server) environment.

If you have multiple servers, generally there are multiple possible deployment folders where you can store the archives - 1 for each server.

You need to ensure that Cognos is configured to look at the particular server where your deployment archives are stored.

Or for a quick-fix, try saving one of the deployment archives into each of the deployment folders, then running the New Import Wizard after each try. When you see the archive you'll know which deployment folder Cognos is configured to use.

Hi biz-intel,

The environment that I am using is not muti server environment.

I have checked it in the IBM Cognos COnfiguration window and the deployment file location is specified as ..\Deployment(Cognos Express\bin\Deployment)

I have copied the files in the same location but still does not appear in the deployment archive box.

Any ideas??

Much appreciated!!!

Hmmmm - the Deployment folder should not sit below the bin folder - it should be at the same level.  Do you have a deployment folder below Cognos Express?

My bad... Its sitting under Cognos Express/Deployment.

But it is not appearing in the deployment archive box

Ok.  I assume you got into Cognos Configuration by navigating to Program Files\IBM\Cognos Express\bin and launching cogconfigw.exe? Just making sure you are not looking at the Cognos Configuration for Framework Manager by mistake - which is in Program Files\IBM\Cognos Express Clients\Framework Manager\bin.

One thing you can try - create a new folder in Cognos Connection Public Folders, then go to the Admin Console and define a new Export (called Muppet or similar) and export the new folder you created to a deployment archive.  Once you have done this, search for the archive in Windows Explorer and make sure it is getting created in the deployment folder.  Wherever this gets created, copy in your compressed export file(s) to the same folder, and try the import again.

Finally - just a quick sanity check - make sure your deployments are compressed zip files (ie have not been unpacked with a compression tool such as winzip).

MF.

Thanks MF.

The reason for it not to appear was because it was just a folder. I have changed them to compressed files and it now does appear in the import window.

But while I am trying to import the files it comes with an error "Cognos_Samples is not a valid deployment archive".

Is it because these files are not compatible with the content store??

Sounds like you do not have the correct deployment archives.  Where did you get them from?

Well you are right  :) The archives were not correct.

I am able to import the archives.( got the correct ones). Finally, the reports are working now.

I really do appreciate your help. Thanks a lot MF.
