Creating data element -> using hierarchy level, member, or member attribute?

Hallo everyone,

I am about to create a report from my dimensional modeled relational data.  My question:
Creating a data element, what are differences between taking a member, a hierarchy level, and a member attribute?
I have googled a lot, and found out that by taking the member, we will be able to do drill actions.  In which case should we take the whole hierarchy level instead of member?  If I am not mistaken, we should basically not take a member attribute as data element, right?

Thank you.

Ratna

Projecting a member in your report will display the member caption for that member and drill up/down can be enabled easily by selecting Data -> Drill Behavior... Enable drill-up and drill-down.
Projecting a hierarchy level will display the member caption for the set of members in that level and drill up/down can be enabled easily as above.
Projecting a member attribute will display the attribute value of the members and drill up/down is not possible.
