I guess we should begin to start using the new terminology! :)

Was there a general release of Cognos 10.2, or just Business Insight (or "Cognos Workspace")? I'm not seeing too much on IBM's site, but that is kinda normal to me. :-)

cognostechie

It's supposed to be a full release.

I wonder what is the logic behind naming it as Cognos Workspace. It is a workspace for report developers, analysis users and ad-hoc developers. Framework Manager and Transformer are also workspaces for modellers so it should be called Modelling workspace?  ;D

MFGF

I think it is a move to stop all the befuddlement over the term "Insight" :) Cognos Insight is now just the client tool, and the "unified workspace" on the web is Cognos Workspace.

Just my opinion, of course :)

so they messed up on the naming in 10.1 which they are correcting now?  ;) Yeah possibly. and I still hate the IBM website.. cognos site was so much better ..especially for searching soemthing and downloading software.

MFGF

Messed up? Oh no. Surely not. Just a minor rebranding. Nothing to see here. Move along now :)

I get the feeling after reading the update patch notes, that one strategic goals seems to be to merge "cognos bi" and "tm1", or do i get this wrong?
Interesting developtment ...and im so glad, that the "minor rebranding" took place. I mean,
business insight
business insight advanced
cognos insight
consumer insight
...got a bit consfusing at the end.

Anybody knows what these dynmic cubes are? sth like the DQM (which ive never used 2 be honest:S)?

MFGF

Dynamic Cubes are a solution for "Big Data". They are aimed fair and square at clients with HUGE data warehouses (terabytes of data) stored using star or snowflake schemas, and usually including aggregate tables or views. Dynamic Cubes sit over these data warehouses, are aggregate-aware, and are built in-memory on the Cognos App Server. They can be linked together in Virtual Dynamic Cubes too. Think of them as a solution for where the data is so big neither DMR (now called OOR - Olap Over Relational) nor TM1 could manage to deliver a solution that performs.

Cheers!
