Hi all,

We are on Cognos 10.1 with Oralce as backend and have one production system. Currently we are planning to have a backup/test environment. I started installing and configuring on the test server and so far I was half way through. Couple of questions I have is.

1. If we plan to move the production reports to Test, do we have to have a brand new content store schema or we can use the same production schema for content store?
2. If we plan not to move any reports from production, and start using it as a test environment, I am thinking we definitely need a brand new schema for test ?

Can any one please confirm the above?
Thanks in advance.

HI

I think it's best to keep prod and test/dev environments completley separate.  If you use the same content store for prod and dev/test and make any changes to a report becuase of normal development or to fix a defect the changes will be reflected in dev/test and prod.

I'm guessing that is a situation you don't want to be in, any new reports, changes to exisiting reports ect should probbaly only be deployed to production once they have been properly tested and sign off.

Having different content stores will remove this confusion.

Good luck :)
