Listening to widgets and view a folder

Hi all.

I have to questions regarding Business Insight.

First I would like to know if its possible to turn off the automatic behavior that a widget automatically listens to all widgets. The problem is that if I have a dashboard with few reports on that I have set the appropriate listening behavior on. I then add new report and all my previous reports will now listen to that and it will listen to all of these. I will then need to go into each one and change the listening behavior to what I want. If they are 10 it can be cumbersome even though it does not happen often after the dashboard is in production. It would be nice to be able to have it so it would default to no listening. Is that possible?

My second question is that I would like to add a widget on my dashboard that shows me the content of a folder with reports in it so the user can run other reports from the dashboard. I have tried to use the Web page widget but that shows me the whole of the cognos connection portal. I have solved this so far by creating a RS report with nothing but links in it and it looks good. The only problem is when a new report is added to the folder I need to edit the link report. Is there any better way to do this in Business Insight?

Best regards,

Ásgeir

I am not sure on the first question. But on the second - drag the folder containing your reports into the workspace. This will show the contents of that folder. When you click on the report, it will open in a new window (maybe not what you wanted).

Hopefully that is a little closer to what you wanted.

I don't know of any way to set the listening behaviour to off for widgets automatically, sorry.

As bdbits says, you can grab a folder from Public Folders or My Folders and drag it onto your workspace (assuming you are on Cognos 10.1.1). You can then use the "Edit Widget" option to control how new links are opened (new window/HTML frame/destination portlet) and you can control what features to expose for each link. It works very much like a portlet in a Cognos Connection page.

MF.

Thanks for the answer. I will try to drag the folder onto the dashboard and see how that looks
