While generating categories, I got the below error. How should i handle it

TR1700: The category Orphas by .....has x number of x immediate descendants"

Is it ok to have orphans?

MFGF

It indicates you have problems in your dimensional data. Orphans are dimensional categories with no valid parent. You really need to look in your model to see what the orphan categories are, and then figure out where they ought to fit in your dimensional hierarchies. Sometimes it indicates issues with the underlying data, or sometimes just a mistake in building your Transformer model. You probably want to fix it, though.

I built the categories with only that dimension in the cube, not even measures, and the their were no orphas. Whereas when i add measures it gives orphans. Any tips?

cognostechie

Orphans are the values that came from the Fact but does not exist in the Dimensions.

Ex: The Fact data has a customer with ID as C99 but that ID does not exist in the Dimension.

Got it. I was able to solve it. O am getting another error "PDS-PPE-0036 Duplicated key value( Category Index)". Does that mean the cube is incomplete
