Congos Office will not work in Powerpoint, Word

We recently upgraded to Cognos 10.1.1 and also upgraded to the new version of Cognos Office.  I am able to connect to Cognos via PowerPoint.  I see the report tree.  When I drag a report out on to a slide it just sits there at "Retrieving report Metadata".  I also get this in Word.

I am able to do everything just fine in Excel.

Any ideas on what the issue could be?

What version of MS office are you using? Is it a 32 or 64 bit instance? Have you checked it is a supported version on the conformance page?

Hey there MF

I did check the combatibility page and we should be good to go.  I also checked with IBM support that I was using the correct versions.

thanks

Does the report you are dragging in contain any prompts? I have seen similar issues with prompted reports...

Ensure that BEFORE you install Cognos for MS Office, that you run the MS KB Patch that came with it.

So your steps...

1. Uninstall CfMSO
2. Run the MS KB Patch.
3. Re-install CfMSO

I believe the MS KB Patch is in the "<Extracted_folder>/go_office folder. The KB Patch folder is KB908002. Run all three executables in this folder.

Hey there

I wanted to give everyone a quick update.  We found that McAfee was blocking the .cs file from being created in the temp folder.  This was only the case when trying to connect via PowerPoint and Word.

thank you :)
