Disapearing Measures

Hi everyone

I've got a transformer model which has been working fine up to yesterday.  The issue I've got now is that all the measures are coming out as null. Even if I write a report that has only got measures in nothing is coming through.

I've checked the scope of all the dimensions, everything is directly identified against the measures.  If I look at the data source viewer I can see data for the measures.  Everything looks OK in the presentation layer of the warehouse.

The model has 10 dimensions based on an FM package.  Most of the dimensions are pretty simple with a single drill path and a couple of levels.  One dimension has 6 drill paths.  The measures come straight from two fact tables in the warehouse (which are correctly populated).

Anybody got any idea what's going on and what I can do to fix it?

As always thanks for your help :)

What changed since yesterday? Anything?

If you have not changed anything, the first thing I would check are the foreign keys in your fact table that link to the dimension tables. Also, run some queries against the relational package that are similar to what you are expecting in the cube. If you are doing this is Report Studio, you might want to try Analysis Studio and see if you have the same problems.

Those would be my starting points.

Hi thanks for the comments.

Everything is fine in the warehouse, keys etc all work Ok and I cna get data back.  Tried analysis studio and had the same problem.

I've managed to recreate the transformer model (as far as I can tell exactly the same as the previous model) and it all works OK.

Gues it may just be 'one of those cognos things'

I have heard but not experienced a Transformer model getting "corrupted" - maybe that is what happened to you. If I recall correctly the Transformer documentation even recommends occasionally export to the *.mdl format as a backup, in case this happens. Whether it would have helped or not, who knows, but you might want to consider this for the future. I'd hate to have to rebuild some of my Transformer models from scratch.

At any rate, glad you got things working again.

Yeah it has been a bit of a pain in the proverbial.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll look into it

(offtopic because my trnsfrmr is 7.5)

When the measures were lost, was there
The record could not be found. (Measure)
at the end of the transformer log when you built the cube?
It would be really nice if someone could tell me what that means.

One of my cubes recently lost all measures when cubebuilds started to fail with " The record could not be found. (Measure)".
I was in a hurry and had a functional backup so I simply replaced the broken mdl (this cube was saved only as mdl so that did not help here) with a backup and the problem disappeared.
