Putting Space between Bars on Bar Charts?

Hello,

I'm creating a chart that is 100% Stacked Column Chart.  I have a nested x-axis:  Camping Equipment breaks down to Years.  So for each piece of equipment I've got 4 bars (Each bar represents a year from 2002 - 2005).  I want to put space between every 4th, so that it is visually appealing and you are able to distinguish the clusters of bars associated with each piece of equipment.

Also, is it possible to put x-axis labels at the top of the chart rather than the bottom?

I don't feel width adjustment can be done..crn decides the width based on data..the only thing that can be done is adjusting the size and overflow, rotate property, alignment..
