We are looking to go from Business Objects 6.5 to Cognos 10.  In researching a possible conversion method, we could use  Framework Manager.   In Framework manager, when creating a package, you can select 3rd party metadata sources and you can select SAP BusinessObjects Designer 6.5 (*.unv).

When doing that you then have to select a whole bunch of fields to select the database respository, user id, password and a bunch of other screens full of information for you conversion into a package.  I feel it will take a while and might be a little bit of school of hard knocks to get it right.

Before I go down this route, I was wondering if anyone has done this?  If so, how succesful were you in converting your old Business Objects 6.5 universes to Cognos packages?

I have not been able to find much documentation outside of the Framework manager manual, so I figured I would ask to see how others made out, before trying . .

Would love to hear from folks on how you have made out and if had any issues.

I thank you all ahead of time for your feedback.

Yeah, we did it some time ago. In our case, since there were not many tables to deal with, I suggested the route of creating a brand new FM model instead of using Universe as the source. You are right, you can import a Universe model into FM and FM with let you create multiple namespaces (as opposed to a single namespace in Universe) but keeping that in mind, it is better to create a new model in FM so that it is clean and is created with FM's best practices (unless your Universe model has 500 tables to deal with). Universe does not care about confirmed dinmensions whereas in FM it is a big deal.
