Backup package in Cognos Bi 10

Hi everyone !

- I create package in Frameword Manager -> Public package-> i using package create report studio in my computer.
- I want to move the package and report in my computer 1 through another computer.
- I try copy package in Frameword Manager and past another computer -> connect datasoure successful but I do not see the report in the package. Why ????

Reports are not stored in packages. They are stored as seperate definitions.  Report Studio is webbased , so normally no definitions are stored on the client (except when saving the xml locally)  I suspect your background is limited to clientbased BI tools, so take some time to familiarize yourselve with the Cognos architecture..  Everything you develop finally ends up stored in a central Content Store with the exception of FM models that are kept on the file system.

For completeness, I'll also point out that Transformer models and cubes are also stored on the file system, though you only need the model to generate the cube file which can then be deployed (and thus copied) to the server(s).

To move your reports, you would normally use export/import (or 3rd party tools that accomplish the same thing). Or if you have enough permissions to prod and the same package exists there, you can open the report and copy the spec to the clipboard, then logon to production and paste the spec into RS and save it.

You can even choose to enable saving to file and open local/save local the report.xml to avoid using clipboard. Using the wrong text editor may result in losing non-ascii characters in the process:
