Report Error - Failed to seek to widget data location in tempoary file

Hi team

One of my reports failed with the following error. The Cognos is version 8.2.

CGSErrorAssert:0:Fatal: CGS_ASSERT(FALSE, 'Failed to seek to widget data
location in tempoary file.'
===================

I noticed there was the cgsxxxxxxxxxxx file created in <Cognos>\temp folder. As soon as the file exceeded 2GB size, the report would fail. Is there a limit on the size of the temp file? Is there a setting we can change?

Has anyone come across this error?

Any suggestion will be very much appreciated.

Yes, 32bit systems have a 2gb file limit. Filter your report so it is not so large a data set.

Thanks for your update.

After searching IBM web site, I found  the error message is a known issue in Cognos, it has been addressed in Cognos version 8.3 based on IBM's document.             

The IBM Cognos bug fix number is 546836. The description of the fix is

"CGSErrorAssert:0:Fatal: CGS_ASSERT(FALSE, 'Failed to seek to widget data location in tempoary file.') Chart Burst
Issue"

1. Is there a bug fix for Cognos 8.2?
3. Any workaround for 8.2?

The bug fix is upgrade to a newer version. 8.2 is no longer supported. Soon 8.3 is going to be unsupported (April 30, 2013).
