Drop Down List question

Hi there, new to Cognos 10 (and Cognos in general).

I am trying to create an Active Report and not sure I am doing it correctly, was hoping for some guidance, book suggestions, links etc.

I converted an existing report that is filtered on SoldToNbr for 6 SoldTo #'s to an Active Report. All I want to do is add a drop down list that contains only those six #'s and allow the user to select which one they want to run the report on.  I read that the Drop Down List allows you to customize the entries but I can't seem to figure that part out. I then tried to use the Data Drop Down List which, I assumed, would only populate with the SoldTo #'s that were in the existing query/report - am I correct?

Thanks in advance for any help you could give.

hi :)

I made the experience that it is holds the biggest learning value if u try some reports yourself. Especially, when ure from 8.4 or further, the concept of variables and interactive connections between objects, the lost of prompts and so on might be a bit irritating.

Maybe i didnt understand your issue correctly, but i suggest creating an A.R. with starting a basic layout (table/ boxes), then think about what controllelement you need (uve decided already for drop down list), then get the list/ crosstab/ chart. then get variables, connect them, maybe check querys and get a master-detail-rel.

I suggest you try out some A.R. yourself. I can recommend some links as well

Thanks for the info - taking some time to watch videos and learn about the variables and different controls - cool stuff!
